The software.
WIN 2.0 is the new software application for configuring and executing semiconductor tests with the Reedholm tech stack.
Speed
15 seconds instead of 15 minutes!
Win 2.0 elevates your existing tester and probe hardware to a new level of productivity – significantly faster (60×) thanks to modern Windows (10 & 11) and powerful SQL (MS SQL 2019+) databases.
IT Security
Win 2.0 offers enhanced protection against cyberattacks – based on modern Windows security features and a secure SQL architecture.
Customer Requirements
Win 2.0 is actively being developed – customer-specific requirements and feedback are continuously incorporated into its development. So far, no update has been released without taking individual customer requests into account.

FAQs
We’ve compiled the most frequently asked questions we receive. To help you transition to WIN 2.0, here is a concise FAQ covering hardware, setup, security, and the upgrade process.
What is RDS WIN 2.0?
WIN 2.0 is a modern, Windows-based test application for Reedholm systems. It leverages current Windows operating systems and SQL databases to provide higher speed, enhanced security, and efficient test management.
Is it possible to upgrade from a DOS-based system or an intranet environment?
Yes, an upgrade to RDS WIN 2.0 is fully supported.
Can we migrate our data from a pure DOS system?
Yes. DOS-based systems can be migrated to WIN 2.0. Existing test logic and proven stability are preserved, while security, network, and file-based limitations are eliminated – providing a modern, future-proof platform.
Is the DOS machine connected to our network?
No. We do not directly integrate the DOS system into your IT environment. WIN 2.0 runs on modern, secure Windows infrastructure – without exposing your network to the risks of outdated systems.
What hardware is in the DOS machine? Is it outdated technology?
Most customers simply keep their existing DOS hardware, and in many cases it continues to work perfectly. However, new DOS machines are still being built today, and replacing an aging unit can be a sensible, preventive measure.
What do you need from us to create a rough quote?
For an initial cost estimate, we mainly need two things:
- When migrating from a pure DOS system (e.g., RDS 8.16): the number of test devices in your device library
- If migrating from an Intranet system, the number of test devices and tested lots
- The amount of customization your setup requires
That’s enough for us to give you a realistic ballpark figure.
How long will a system be offline during the upgrade?
Most preparation happens beforehand: Your IT provides a database server and a dedicated workstation. We handle the data migration and the setup of the application. The actual switch over from one to the other system is done in a few days. How quickly the system is verified and ready for testing depends on your allocated resources for the project.
Support is flexible: we can assist on-site or remotely, depending on what works best for you.
Is there a guide for setting up the SQL database?
Yes - and the process is straightforward. We typically use standard settings, and there are multiple ways to set it up. If you don’t require a dedicated database server, WIN 2.0 can also run on the same Windows machine as the application.
That said, we recommend a separate database server or virtual machine for easier backups, stability, and security. Some customers even run the database in AWS - that works just as well.
Will we lose any of our comfort features that were added over the years?
No. All your existing comfort functions will be carried over, adapted, or re-implemented as needed.
Your workflow stays familiar - just on a faster, safer, more modern platform.
Ihr Workflow bleibt vertraut – nur auf einer schnelleren, sichereren und moderneren Plattform.
